Switchyard Structures
Coordinated structural steel for the conductor, bus, switching, shielding, and equipment systems within a switchyard.
The Framework of the Switchyard
A switchyard uses several structure families together to receive circuits, route power through bus and switching equipment, and connect outgoing lines. Depending on the one-line arrangement and site layout, the structural package may include dead ends, static masts, rigid or flexible bus supports, equipment stands, cable-transition steel, and access assemblies.
SteelCon fabricates the drawing-defined switchyard package and coordinates interfaces among structure tags, equipment mounting patterns, insulators, grounding provisions, and foundations. Assemblies can be shop-checked, match-marked, finished to the project specification, and organized by bay or structure for delivery and field erection by others.
Typical Components
- Dead-end and line-termination structures
- Static masts and shield-wire supports
- Rigid and flexible bus support steel
